Stephen Byrd
Stephen Byrd is an American fiction author. He is best known for his thriller novels, and has explored sub-genres including supernatural thrillers, political thrillers, romantic thrillers and science fiction. He has also written numerous short stories.
He won the 2025 Literary Titan Gold Award for “Dissenting Opinion”, and in the same year that book was awarded an honorable mention in the NY Big Book Awards. Literary Titan editor-in-chief Thomas Anderson described “Dissenting Opinion” as being similar to “…a modern day Aaron Sorkin script.”
He was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee in 1982. His father was a welder in a local manufacturing facility and his mother worked in a sewing factory. He attended school at South Lawrence Elementary, where he often read books that were well beyond his grade level. While attending Loretto High School, he decided to pursue a career in emergency medicine, and spent twenty-five years in emergency medical services, working as a paramedic in several communities in Middle Tennessee.
Byrd states that his writing was influenced by Stephen King, Dan Brown, Patricia Cornwell, John Grisham and Frieda McFadden, as well as his childhood favorite authors, Franklin W. Dixon and Carolyn Keene.
